Motel Dubeau Travelers Inn & Hostel offers a unique, vintage-inspired stay in the heart of Flagstaff, capitalizing on its prime location near downtown and the Amtrak station. While praised for its charm, convenient amenities, and friendly staff, guests consistently report noise issues from trains and street activity, alongside some concerns about small room sizes and limited breakfast options.
I stayed here on a two week long Arizona road trip and it was the worst night sleep I had, despite also spending a week camping and backpacking. It is SO noisy, even with ear plugs jammed in your ears. I didn’t realize there’s no AC until I got there and I couldn’t let the fan window unit in because of the noise, so it ended up running while sitting on the desk. The noise from passing traffic, the train, other occupants, and pedestrians is magnified, as if it’s happening in the room with you. The location is great for walking downtown and not having to worry about parking, but also sort of sketchy, with homeless people meandering around and people sitting right outside the window to the room at a picnic table. I also saw at least two spiders in the room during my stay and woke up to a bite on my face and hand. I wanted to love this place but I would not recommend staying here.
Spent 3 nights here recently and it was a very enjoyable stay. As others have mentioned, there are active train tracks nearby (about half a block away) but it's a no-whistle zone. While you do get the sound of trains going past, there is no blaring horn. If you're a light sleeper, this may still be a problem but I didn't have any trouble with it. Even a deluxe room is pretty small (the shower has barely enough room to turn around in; also, there are signs posted in the bathroom that it may take up to 15 minutes for hot water to start flowing, but in my experience it was closer to 2 or 3), so it's geared more toward people who are traveling light. The location is the major selling point for this place, being in the heart of downtown. There are a TON of bars and restaurants within easy walking distance. I got breakfast and dinner all three days/nights (six places in total) and never had to take the car out of the parking lot. It's also within a couple blocks of Humphrey Street, which takes you out to Grand Canyon roughly 90 minutes away. It's a 1920s/30s-era motel, so don't expect Hilton or Marriott. But if you're looking for something quirky and different from homogenous corporate hotel chains that all look the same, the Du Beau is a great place to start.
I appreciate the super close proximity to the Amtrak. The front desk responded quickly and was courteous. Rooms were small, but very clean. I would definitely stay again!
A very vintage motel with a history. Rooms aren't large but are clean. Location is great, near downtown Flagstaff and Amtrak station. Multiple restaurants/coffee shops are within a one minute walk.
What a gem that I never knew existed! The location of Motel Du Beau is excellent.... you can walk just about anywhere from here. The room was so cute & clean & the bed was so comfortable. The staff was very friendly. I now have a new favorite place to stay when I come to Flagstaff!
This place is an absolute gem! An old-timey motel with modern conveniences and THE BEST customer service. Our host was incredibly accommodating as our train from Chicago hit delay after delay and pushed our arrival a whole night past our intended arrival time. We rolled in bedraggled and smelly from 40+ hours on the train and needed to turn around 3 hours later to catch a bus to Phoenix. The host gave us breakfast and offered the bathroom and shower for cleaning up, and cancelled our unused reservation at no charge. So we booked a room for two nights later, when we would be passing through again, and thoroughly enjoyed this adorable motel in the middle of fun and funky Flagstaff. What a trip saver these people were!
Cannot say enough good things about this place. If you love vintage charm like I do, this place is for you. It was super cute, very cost effective, and the front desk lady was able to accommodate my sort of quirky request. I like that the parking is out of the way of the street, you can park right next to your room! It was very cosy, and I personally did not mind the train noise too much. It sort of added to the charm. The only thing I was a bit disappointed by was the breakfast - I had ridden my motorcycle for about 5 hours that day and was too exhausted to go out & get dinner, and most nearby places closed at 9 so delivery was out of the question. Cornish Pasty Co was open late but I had already had that a day prior. I was quite hungry in the morning, but all there was to eat was instant oatmeal packets and individually packaged Hostess muffins, which is not really my jam. It's a good thing that Macy's is just around the corner, and their biscuits & gravy is to die for!
I'd stayed at The Motel Dubeau last week with a friend of mine and it was absolutely awesome! This charming motel is in close proximity to the historic downtown which has wonderful stores, restaurants, bars, and nightlife. Motel offers a Continental breakfast in the morning and you have access to their full kitchen 24/7 along with coffee and ice. This used to be a motor court which means you park parallel to your room. And the parking is free! Please note all parking in historic downtown Flagstaff is pay to park. The beds were very comfortable and their room was spacious enough. There's a very cozy outside area to enjoy and relax. This motel is close to the train tracks but never heard the train inside the room. There is a no train horn policy on the railway in Flagstaff. Staff there are very pleasant, amicable, and full of knowledge of the area. They have maps and will be glad to show you places to eat or visit. If you are ever in Flagstaff, this is the place to stay! It is a historic gem right on Route 66. Anybody can stay in a hotel but this is definitely worth the experience. I will be back..
Charmingly preserved motor inn, small and simple rooms but exceedingly clean and comfortable. Amazing memory foam beds. Perfect location. Appreciated the laundry, kitchen and common room availability. Great staff. Only negatives are the one-ply TP ?and the “resident squatter” who used the corner by our room to have frequent smokes.
Loved our stay in this historical gem! Perfect place if location is your top priority and you want to be right in the middle of downtown. Room was good; there is nothing we were missing but be prepared for simple no frills lodging. The staff was amazing, and it was great to have laundry and breakfast available.
